At the heart of every successful design realisation project is a robust Discovery Stage.

This is more than just a kick-off meeting or a questionnaire — it’s a strategic, research-driven phase where we immerse ourselves in your world to fully understand your goals, challenges, audience, and context. It's about building a strong foundation so that every design and execution decision is purposeful and aligned with your vision.

Why Discovery Matters

 

Too often, teams rush into design or production based on assumptions or incomplete information. The Discovery Stage is our way of slowing down, asking the right questions, and ensuring we're solving the right problems. It de-risks the project, uncovers opportunities, and creates a shared language and direction between us and our clients.

What Happens During Discovery?

 

  • Stakeholder Interviews & Workshops: 
    We engage with key stakeholders — from founders to end-users — to understand the core motivations, constraints, and goals behind the project. These conversations help uncover insights that might not be obvious in briefs or documentation.

  • Business & Brand Deep Dive: 
    We analyse your brand positioning, values, business model, and competitive landscape. This helps us understand how your design needs support broader strategic goals, such as market differentiation or internal efficiency.

  • User & Audience Research: 
    Through personas, user journeys, and behavioral data (when available), we build empathy with the people who will engage with the final design. Whether it's an internal team, end-user, or client stakeholder, understanding user needs is central to effective realisation.

  • Technical & Feasibility Scoping: We assess any technical constraints or integration requirements — such as manufacturing capabilities, digital platforms, materials, or regulatory standards — so we can design within real-world parameters and avoid costly surprises later.

  • Goals, Success Metrics, and KPIs:
    We define clear objectives and success criteria so that both creative decisions and project outcomes can be measured against real impact — whether that’s time-to-market, aesthetic excellence, usability, or brand engagement.

  • Project Roadmap & Communication Plan:
    Once aligned, we create a project plan, including milestones, deliverables, and collaboration touch points. This ensures transparency, accountability, and smooth transitions into the next phases of design and production.

The Outcomes of Discovery

By the end of the Discovery Stage, we deliver a Discovery Report or Strategic Brief, which includes:

  •  Key insights from stakeholder and user research

  • A clearly defined problem statement

  • Project goals and KPIs

  • Technical considerations and constraints

  • Visual or conceptual mood boards (if appropriate)

  • A high-level roadmap for the design realisation journey
