Innovation in Action - Our First Ever Event!

Innovation In Action
There was an incredible energy in the room at our first-ever Innovation in Action event, held as part of Milton Keynes Tech Week 2026 at x+why, Unity Place on Friday 16th October 2026.
From the conversations taking place throughout the afternoon to the ideas emerging during our hands-on workshop, one thing became clear - innovation isn't simply about creating new technology. It's about understanding people, challenging assumptions and finding the right problems to solve.
Led by Inond's Founder and Innovation Partner, Benn Klewpatinond, our interactive workshop challenged attendees to think differently about the relationship between people, technology and everyday life.
The ideas that emerged were imaginative, practical and, most importantly, rooted in human behaviour. From a Massage and Movement Chair; an Active vs Lazy Option Coffee Machine to a Treadmill Computer Mouse and Movement Unlocking Lunch Box! Each concept explored how we might encourage people to make different choices through simple, engaging experiences.
What connected these ideas was the use of a rewards-based system. Rather than simply telling people what they should do, the concepts explored how we could make positive behaviours more appealing, rewarding and part of everyday life. This brought us back to a central theme of Benn's talk - People and Purpose must come before Technology.
In On... Sport, Fitness & Health
Our panel discussion brought another important dimension to the conversation, with incredible speakers sharing perspectives from across sport, fitness, health, broadcasting and accessibility. Throughout the discussion, one word kept coming up, Access.
Access means different things to different people. It can mean financial access, ensuring opportunities and solutions are affordable and available to those who need them. It can mean physical access, removing barriers and designing environments, products and experiences that work for more people. And it can mean intellectual access, making information, knowledge and opportunities understandable and accessible to everyone. These conversations highlighted the importance of looking beyond what technology can do and considering who it actually benefits.

What comes next?
Innovation in Action was created to bring people together to explore challenges, question assumptions and turn ideas into real-world impact.
If the energy in the room was anything to go by, we're only just getting started. Our next event is already in the works for April 2027, and we look forward to continuing the conversation, bringing new perspectives into the room and exploring how we can use technology to solve the right problems.
Because innovation isn't just about what we create. It's about who we create it for, why it matters and the difference it makes.
